Innovation Club Room (FMS 3302)

       The Innovation Club Room (FMS 3302) is located in the Research and Development building of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University. The room size is 11 meters wide and 13.50 meters long, with total area 148.5 square meters.

       The faculty has received financial support from the Government Savings Bank, which mission supports promoting the Thai economy in accordance with government policies. Besides, the government has laid the foundation for developing Thailand into Thailand 4.0 era. Therefore, the bank needs to build a new customer base, students and young people, interested in developing themselves to be strong SME Startup entrepreneurs, responding to government policy which aims to promote SMEs Startup businesses under Thailand 4.0 policy.

       The aim of this project is to create entrepreneurs in the university setting and promote SMEs Startups based on National Startup businesses in accordance with the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy. The GSB Innovation Club project will support PSU to establish a co-working space and encourage a new generation of students in starting businesses and becoming leaders of SMEs startups.

Objectives

1. To focus on the participation of banks, universities, students and various research institutions by the memorandum of cooperation
2. To promote and support the new generation of students to take part in Innovation Exchange experiences and build business networks
3. To encourage students to work on innovative projects and can apply these concepts in reality
4. Students will have the opportunity to design and create a Smart Startup Company through GSB Startup and run successful businesses while studying at PSU.

The expected result

1. This project will cause learning, innovation, the exchange experience and building a business network.
2. Students will have creative and innovative ideas which can be applied in the real situation.
3. Students have the opportunity to conduct business successfully since the university level.

Innovation Club by GSB Startup Activities

Objectives

1. To focus on the participation of banks, universities, students and various research institutions following the memorandum of cooperation
2. To be the ​​learning and innovation center
3. To enable the exchange of experience and networking for Startup businesses.
4. To provide a space for organizing various activities according to the GSB Innovation Club project.

Project Characteristics

     The Government Savings Bank cooperates with the university on a memorandum of cooperation for the establishment of the Innovation Club by GSB Startup. The university sent an application for participating in the GSB Innovation Club project which included budget requirements. Furthermore, photographs of the venue in which the project will take place were included which ultimately resulted in them to collaborate and offer the following grant:

1. The decoration and facilities budget for the Innovation Club room, not exceeding 500,000 baht.
2. The management fee 100,000. – baht per year

Operation Results

1. The Government Savings Bank aims to collaborate with previously mentioned universities to promote how the bank (GSB) operates through the Innovation Club by GSB Startup.

2. The Government Savings Bank aims to collaborate with previously mentioned universities to promote how the bank (GSB) operates through the Innovation Club by GSB Startup.

3. The university organizes activities to promote the use of the area (Innovation Club), such as providing bank staff for credit counselling or other services. The bank regularly invests in the Innovation Club by GSB Startup area or invites leading businessmen or successful entrepreneurs to continuously share their experiences.

4. Government Savings Bank organizes the Smart Start Idea by GSB Startup and Smart Startup Company by GSB Startup activities to promote entrepreneurship at the university.

Qualification of the department/university participating in the activity

1. An agency or university that has an agreement for cooperation with the Government Savings Bank
2. Having the area for the establishment of the Innovation Club by GSB Startup.
3. Having staff and team who can carry out the Innovation Club by GSB Startup activity.
4. The department or university that apply to participate in the Innovation Club by GSB Startup activity must open a GSB Innovation Club account with the account name “GSB Innovation Club – University Name” to receive funding to support the activity under the GSB Innovation Club project of the Government Savings Bank.

Project success indicator

       To have students or entrepreneurs entering the Innovation Club by GSB Startup room for generating innovation ideas.

The duties towards the success of the project. GSB’s duties for the cooperation with their partners

1. To organize the public relations activities including finding ways to conduct activities with the university
2. To provide financial support for the decoration of the premises and equipment within the Innovation Club by GSB Startup not exceeding 500,000 baht per location (20 locations).
3. To provide financial support for area management at 100,000 baht per year (20 locations).

The cooperation duties of “university” (partners)

1. Providing an available space or room is required to carry out the Innovation Club project through GSB Startup.
2. To prepare the Innovation Club by GSB Startup area following the agreement with the Government Savings Bank to achieve the objectives and maximize benefits
3. To promote the Innovation Club by GSB Startup activity so that students can use the area to do activities and create projects.
4. To control the facility usage and equipment used within the Innovation Club by GSB Startup.
5. To organize activities within the Innovation Club by GSB Startup, such as inviting business people and successful entrepreneurs to share the experience

The cooperation duties of “students”

1. To be a member of the Innovation Club by GSB Startup by becoming a fan on their Facebook page: GSB SMEs Startup.
2. To use the Innovation Club by GSB Startup area for activities and project creation.
3. To participate in various activities which are organized by the Innovation Club by GSB Startup

The Selection Criteria

1. The Government Savings Bank will select departments or universities to participate in the Innovation Club by GSB Startup, with and amount of total of 20 locations, not exceeding 5 places in each region.
2. The Government Savings Bank will support the budget for equipment and decoration not exceeding 500,000 baht. The budget for building the Innovation Club by GSB Startup are considered as follows;
   1. The area and space that is allocated by the university
   2. The details of the budget for decoration
3. After the Government Savings Bank has selected the department or university, that department or university are required to prepare an official letter to the Government Savings Bank. The details in the letter must be mentioned the area and the budget requested with the details of the action plan for the bank approval.
4. The bank will provide financial support for management in the amount of 100,000 baht per year. The department or university must submit an action plan for using the Innovation Club by GSB Startup area for the financial approval in the following year.

Funding Process

       The Bank will provide the budget to decorate the Innovation Club by GSB Startup, not exceeding 500,000 baht and the management budget of 100,000 baht. The Government Savings Bank will transfer funds for the budget to the Government Savings Bank’s account. The university is required to open an account with Government Savings Bank to receive the funds.

1. The department or university that apply to participate in the Innovation Club by GSB Startup activity must open a GSB Innovation Club account with the account name “GSB Innovation Club – University Name” (Attachment 2).
2. Setting the Appointing authority for the withdrawal of money with a condition of signing at least 2 in 3 persons
3. After opening an account successfully, the university has to submit account notification form (Attachment 3) via E-mail: Department.SSBD@gsb.or.th and by post at (Address: Business Development Department, SMEs Entrepreneurs Start-up, Building 17, 1st Floor, Government Savings Bank, Head Office 470 Phaholyothin Road, Samsennai, Phayathai, Bangkok 10400)
