Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University
Faculty of Management Sciences
Prince of Songkla University
The Faculty of Management Sciences is the first faculty in the field of social sciences established at the Hat Yai Campus. Its initial objective was to meet the labor demands of the southern region by offering programs and producing graduates in Business Administration and Public Administration, as well as providing general foundation courses for students of all faculties at the Hat Yai Campus.
Originally, the faculty was approved by the University Affairs Commission to be established under the name “Faculty of Social Sciences” on April 17, 1974, in accordance with Thailand’s Third National Economic and Social Development Plan. At that time, Dr. Sawat Sakulthai served as the university’s president.
Later, the university reviewed its structural principles and divided its campuses into two main centers:
The Hat Yai Campus was designated as a center for science and technology, while
The Pattani Campus was designated as a center for humanities and social sciences.
Since the Faculty of Social Sciences was located at the Hat Yai Campus, the University Council approved changing its name to the “Faculty of Management Sciences” on July 16, 1975.
It became the seventh faculty of Prince of Songkla University, with Dr. Paiboon Changrian serving as the first Dean. The faculty has continued to develop progressively since then.
